wet n wild 1 Step Wonder Gel: Swatch + Review

wet n wild 1 step wonder gel swatch and review

I recently had the chance to join some fellow bloggers to preview wet n wild's new line and I can't wait to share many of these items with you!

Being hailed by wet n wild as your Nail Superhero, these polishes
  • Removes easily with regular nail polish remover
  • Up to 2 weeks of gorgeous colour and intense shine
  • Contained in an opaque bottle to protect the light-cured formula
The secret to the 1 Step Wonder Gel polish is in the 3-free formula, which is "developed with reactive technology similar to that used for durability and shine of dental veneers". You don't need a top coat or UV lights to achieve the aforementioned benefits.

Now I must say I'm quite intrigued that it's in an opaque bottle but you don't need UV or LED light. I'm no nail guru by any means, but I'm guessing that the light from regular household bulbs or even the sun contains UV rays that might actually harden the formula?  I'm personally a little confused about this.

I have 15 of the available 18 to show you. But first, let me tell you a little about my experience with these polishes.

First thing I noticed is that the brush is a little wider than many of the brushes of the polishes I currently own. I LOVE a wider nail polish brush. It makes application 100 times better!

Without a topcoat, the polish lasted me 3 full work days with very little chipping (it was either chipping or shrinking at the tips only, which is kind of impressive), however the colour was a bit on the dull side after day 2. Honestly, it didn't have the shine I was expecting to begin with. A top coat is definitely needed to get some good shine going on. I haven't had the polish on long enough to test out it's two week claim, but I don't think it would make it. I'll test this out and get back to you on that!

Most of the colours are opaque in two coats. Because of the metallic nature of All That Jazzy, it'll show brush strokes,  Bye Feluschia was quite sheer at first, however the second coat really made a difference. A third coat may be needed if you tend to go thin on your coats. Left Marooned surprised me as it's a super sheer colour that reminds me of coloured cellophane. I was really looking forward to it being creamy, but that wasn't the case.

So far, my faves are Stay Classy,  Lavender Out Loud and Under My Plum, followed closely by Peri-wink-le of an Eye, Pretty Peas and Condensed Milk.

Onto the swatches!
